Went to Penang, Malaysia on 30 August 2013 with my mother and my two young adults.
We had great time over there especially those foods that I have missed out more than
few years which I went with my brother.
We drove from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and took us around 4 hours to reach Butterworth.
This road is North South Highway. My son and I took turn to take over the wheel.
You must stop over at this restaurant before driving to Penang. The food is so delicious and cheap.
Crispy Fried Prawn Fritters (thin layer) / Fried Rice Vermicelli (Mee Hoon) / Fried Chicken
Steamed Lala (Asian Clam) / Sweet and Sour Mantis
After our lunch. We headed straight to Penang using the bridge. The scenery is magnificent.
We stayed at Evergreen Laurel Hotel, Gurney Drive. To us staying here is very convenient.
We took two rooms and both rooms are connected. Our rooms do not have breakfast,
I cancelled it because we wanted to eat Penang foods (not hotel food).
Scenery over looking from our bedrooms.
We drove up to Kek Lok Si Temple. All tourists will come here.
This Goddess of Mercy placed at the highest place over looking Penang.
Isn't it is magnificent?
Scenery from Kek Lok Si Temple over looking part of Penang.
It is like a wishing tree. Anything that you wanted to wish for, you just need
write it down on a piece of cloth and hang it.
Night time at Gurney Drive in front of our hotel.
From our hotel, we went (walk) for late night snacks at Gurney Food Court.
Lin Chee Kang Drink....soothing and refreshing.
My daughter's favourite Coconut Pancake.
Ooh...this is our favourite Penang Assam Laksa (spicy and sourish).
Even my mother cannot tahan (stand) and had a few bites (she is vegetarian).
Beside the Assam Laksa, it is Fried Flat Noodle.
And also don't forget the Rojak (mixed fruits with sauce).
Inside the Gurney Drive Food Court.
My son ordered this Fried Chicken Skin with Squid and Bean Curd.
It is crispy and flavourful.
I forgotten this place. We had breakfast the next day. We drove and drove
and found this place has food court. The foods are nice and cheap and
I forgotten to take picture of those food.
Funny thing is that after the breakfast, we went to eat Dim Sum nearby this place.
We saw a lot of people eating and told ourselves that it must be delicious
and we were not wrong about it. Our stomach full of foodsssssss.
After our breakfast, we went back to hotel to pack our luggage. Just wanted to get ready.
At least after our outing, we don't have to rush ourselves to check out from the hotel.
After our packing, we went out to visit a few temples near our hotel (in fact it was just behind our hotel).
This is Thai Temple. We did not take photos of another temple.
My mother teaching my son how to pray.
End of our trip to Penang. Bridge going back to Peninsula.
Penang is a nice place to visit. Great food, clean and I find not many immigrant workers
compare to Kuala Lumpur. Definitely will visit again if have the chance.
